I really want to watch some new anime but don't have any idea what to watch I am looking for comedy, action, romance or ecchi as i have enjoyed those genres in the past but would be open to trying something new

I would recommend you Great Teacher Onizuka is old but is gold, is has comedy, romance and action, i really enjoyed it.
It's a bit late but, here are some that I have personally really enjoyed :
Saenai Kanojo no Sodate-kata (an harem with an otaku trying to make a video-game)
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. (an anti-social pessimistic protagonist with a girl trying to help people's problems at school)
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (a bit overrated imo but still nice to watch)
Masamune-kun's Revenge
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! (because Rikka)
