Story:

Ecchi Sketch is a Yuri-based romance visual novel that features a girl named Yume who is great at drawing manga and works in a funeral business as a designer. Through an online connection, she has her only friend Koyomi with whom she shares the same passion: Girl x Girl mangas.

In a sudden turn of events, she ends up working in her dream job as a yuri manga artist in a small girl-only team. She absolutely loves her new place but is quickly overwhelmed by the number of responsibilities that come with it. As she becomes more familiar with her new workplace and colleagues, she realizes that all the girls have a thing for girls in the team, but none of them actually show it.

Despite having found her place and having dedicated workmates, Yume also starts to see more and more of the discomfort and lack of confidence or experience, and her work takes a completely wild route that she could never have thought about it in the past. To gain the needed experience, and to gain the feel for certain situations, the girls readily start to unveil themself to Yume. A story of passion, romance, and drama starts to unfold with each step forward at this point which creates a rollercoaster of emotions for Yume.

Character and Routes

We have 3 different character routes, depending on the choices made as the story progresses. Character sprites are drawn in different situations, showing different feelings, and also in different art styles with some having a chibi-like presentation which I found rather cute.

The character routes are chosen in the form of "need" concerning the project at hand at work. If we feel like the colorist needs help in pointing out specific matters we choose the colorist over the other girls to discuss it over a meeting in another room without disturbing the other girls in the team, and we learn more of the character's background to make the reader feel invested in the story.

An uncensored patch is available for download on the developer's website.

Voices and Music

The full novel has English VA for the girls and some agreeable music titles with mainly piano and few other instruments to listen to for the story. I find the VA to be a bit lacking in character on some parts. Some parts felt alright, but on others, the emotions of the characters didn't come over as to how they should have, which is a bit sad as it would have helped a lot to emphasize the character's emotions.

Overall Thoughts

Ecchi Sketch is a decent Yuri-based romance novel with an interesting plot and characters, but in terms of story and depth, there is much room for building up a genuine story. Characters lack enough screen time to bring out their personalities, and the story is too fast-paced, which clearly downgrades the overall quality of the story. If the main theme could be fleshed out more, I am sure it would have made this novel a must-read for the Yuri romance genre. Since this is not the case, it might feel lacking for many readers.

I do not dislike Ecchi Sketch, but I also can't say I like it, because the story feels rushed in many parts. If you're still interested in this visual novel, I'd suggest buying it on a good discount of at least 50% off.
